The Seniors Commission oversees the Polk County Senior Citizens Center located at 401 Autumn Drive on Racetrack Road. A 12,000 square foot state of the art facility constructed in 2000 and provides Meals on Wheels and numerous activities for seniors.

Tour Stop
The Depot Commission oversees the Train Depot located at 524 Sherwood Street and U.S. 71. The Depot is on the National Historic Register. Currently a museum, the Chamber of Commerce and Fare Finders Travel are located in the Depot. The original train depot began construction in 1896 and was in service until 1919. It housed The Express Office, Brown Eating House, the Passenger Station and the Freight Depot. In 1920, a new railroad depot was built to replace the original 1896 structure. The depot was abandoned for many years until it was restored to its imposing beauty today gaining its entrance to the National Historic Register. Recognized for distinctive service to the community is Yvonne Harmon, who served as a Mena Depot Commission Member for 15 years. She and her husband, James Harmon, are recognized for their untiring efforts to improve and maintain the Mena Depot.
