We are the Humane Society of the Ouachitas (HSO) a non-profit, NO-KILL shelter, and we invite you to browse and get to know us!  browsing our Checking out our events such as our spay/neuter clinics, including helpful hints for your pets, and an invitation to enter our FREE contests when we schedule them!

How Giving Your TIME Helps

Volunteering is just as important as cash donations! There are so many different things to do to run a humane society and find loving homes for the pets... please read how you might want to volunteer:

1. Volunteer at the shelter and help take care of the pets...spend time giving positive attention to the pets by walking and playing with them, talking to them, and petting, bathing and brushing them, cleaning, organizing, answering the phone, greeting visitors, etc, etc...

2. Volunteer to help at adoption events... help to transport the pets to the event, feed and clean up after them, walk them and give them attention, show the pet to a potential adoption family, etc...

3. Volunteer at a fundraising event... help organize, prepare and plan for the event, collect donations for the event, work at the event, etc...

4. Attend an HSO General Meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month, or call the Humane Society to find out more info at 394-5682.
